Industry: Data analytics for personalized medicine

Cyanvac (formerly known as Oncome) is exploring the use of data analytics in personalized cancer medicine. The company has created a test that acquires RNA and DNA data on a tumor sample. Then, using proprietary algorithms, the test maps this genomic data onto a database that links types of cancers to potential therapies.
The company has found ways to encourage machine learning in its algorithms and offer better information on how a tumor sample will respond to a given drug.
Increasingly, cancer-combatting drugs are designed to target specific mechanisms that may be unique to only one or a few types of cancer. This is driving the use of personalized cancer care, with treatment plans tailored to the individual. Cyanvac’s technology will help doctors design better treatment plans.
